It’s December - that time of year where we all ask where did the year go?! 😂
Its a season that brings a lot of emotion, a lot of frantic thinking, a lot of expense, and for some a lot of anxiety… I hope for you it’s a time seeing hope, love, generosity and beauty in everyone around you.
When the seasons change the needs here don’t. I’ve been sitting here planning and thinking of the best ways to reach the homeless here in my little community this Christmas time. I would like to introduce this years initiative by starting a “Giving Tree” for the month of December in the hope it will give you all a chance to participate in giving something to someone in need this Christmas time.
Our little tree has some tags…some life changing tags.
What can we give together? Here are some urgent needs.
Toiletries to the value of $30 a family
Sponsoring a child for $50 a month
Food parcels— feed a family with rice noodles oil and sauces for $50
Children’s clothing packs with hair ties underwear socks dresses or shorts the T-shirts $30 per child
A school backpack full of supplies hygiene and school books for $30
How about a student scholarship of $50 per month for 2024? A few coffees a week!
Would any of these things be a possibility? Grab your kids, workmates family or friends or maybe your business and take a tag off the giving tree. I know we can all do something together. Drop me a line back and let me know your thoughts or just say hi…
A few updates...
A huge thankyou to those who responded to the Backpack Appeal. We managed to sponsor 50 children with the packs of school and hygiene supplies and their families with bags of rice. The distribution will happen on the 8th of December all going well ❤️
The photos above include: the grade 12 student group, grade 12 students (in raincoats) just after exams, one of our girls who finished exams with high honours and a recent graduate with extra English language certificate.
The grade 12 students had the National end of year exams a few weeks ago. 12 of our (14) students passed and all directly attribute their success to being able to have access to the extra classes we financially support them to attend. So amazing!
Our scholarship students have settled well into their new year and are so thankful for the opportunity to study and support their families.
Personally my biggest need is to meet my goal of 50 people committing to $50 a month so I can do more here over the next year without the panic of monthly living expenses. I now have 28 people behind me helping me live out the dream in my heart to make a difference here. With your help we can make others dreams come true too. 22 to go!
